Obituary of Barbara McCarthy Cushing

Barbara McCarthy Cushing, a resident of Stamford, CT for over 60 years, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2008 at the Richard L. Rosenthal Hospice Residence in Stamford. Born on May 16, 1935 in New York City, NY, she was the daughter of the late Eugene James and Beatrice (Orsi) McCarthy. She was 72. Barbara graduated from Katherine Gibbs. She worked for Conair Corporation for over 10 years, most recently as an Executive Secretary. She also worked for Continental Forest Industries. Barbara is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Maple and her husband, John J. of Milford, CT; and Virginia Cushing and her husband, Robert Jaben of Monroe, CT and one son, Peter Cushing also of Milford; and two grandchildren, Shannon Maple and John M. Maple both of Milford. She is also survived by one brother, Ralph McCarthy formerly of New Canaan, CT and one sister, Doris McCarthy of New York City. Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT on Friday, March 28, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 1200 Shippan Avenue, Stamford on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
