Obituary of Dorothy A. Moore

Dorothy A. Moore, a resident of Darien for the past year and a former resident of over 70 years of Sunnyside, NY in Queens, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Stamford Hospital. Born on May 13, 1934 in New York City, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Schultz. She was 76. Dorothy retired from Macy's as a sales clerk. She enjoyed taking long walks, reading and spending time with her granddaughters She is survived by her son, Thomas Moore and his wife Susan of Darien and two granddaughters, Emily and Elizabeth both of Darien. She is also survived by two brothers, Robert Schultz and his wife Annette of Norwalk and Dennis Schultz of Maspeth, NY, one sister-in-law Margaret Schultz of Smithtown, NY and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William Thomas Moore and brother, Joseph Schultz. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Monday, July 26, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas More R. C. Church, 374 Middlesex Road, Darien on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery in Flushing, Queens, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bennett Cancer Center, c/o Stamford Health Foundation, 1351 Washington Blvd., Suite 202, Stamford, CT 06902.
