Obituary of Nancy Leslie

Nancy Leslie, beloved wife of Charles Leslie of Darien , Connecticut , died Saturday, June 5, 2010 after a courageous two year battle with cancer. She was born in Brooklyn , New York , August 20, 1938, to Jane and Joseph C. Ryan, and raised in Manhasset , New York . Anyone who knew Nancy would attest that she was full of life, had a quick wit, and a friendly sense of humor. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and an avid tennis player. She loved digging in her garden, and was a very talented needle point fanatic. Nancy enjoyed living a "multi-coastal" lifestyle. She raised her family in Marin County , California , and Darien Connecticut where she has settled for the past 28 years. For the last 17 years, Nancy has also been a part time resident of Tortola, British Virgin Islands. Nancy dedicated her life to her three children, her grandchildren, and to the children of others. She worked as a teacher at the United Methodist Family Center Preschool for several years, teaching hundreds of Darien preschoolers who adored their “Miss Nancy.” Nancy raised three children, C.J. Leslie of Santa Cruz, California, Jeff Leslie of Greenbrae, California, and Lauren Leslie who passed away at age 17. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Charles Leslie, her brothers Casey Ryan and John G. Ryan, her sons, CJ and Jeff, and her three grandchildren, whom she adored. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday June 12, 2010 at St. Thomas More Church in Darien , CT. A private family interment was held at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
