John Luttrell was the GM of Mobil Oil Libya during part of the time I worked there from 1968 to 1971 in human resources (known then as employee relations). Even though I was a long way down the organization chart from him, I always found him to be approachable and open. He will be missed by all of us who were fortunate enough to have come in contact with him.

Dear Thelma and family. We were so saddened today to hear of John's passing. He was a wonderfull person and we enjoyed the years in Mobil Oil in London and Connecticut with you. You were both always so nice to us. Somehow in our moves I lost touch. Dick and I send our condolences and love. Carol Wilson

Although I never worked for or directly with John I was always impressed with his abilities and character while working in the N.Y. office Exploration Dept. and when seeing him on travels to several overseas offices. My best wishes and condolences to the family.

I first met John in Anaco in 1953 when he was Jr. Engineer and I was a Jr. Geologist. We later worked together in Libya when he was the General Manager and I was the Exploration Manager. I was always dismayed that a man so talented and intellectually capable was driven from Mobil (early retirement) by an overly egotistical personality in E & P top management. R.I.P., John G. Luttrell
