Obituary of Helen S. Broadhurst

Helen S. Broadhurst, a resident of Darien, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Rosenthal Hospice Residence in Stamford. Born in 1918 in Metuchen, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Charles Stevens and Gertrude Humpheries Stevens. She was 92. Helen started working in the medical field when she was 16. She started to work at Norwalk Hospital in 1974 in the Department of Surgery and was later promoted as a Medical Staff Coordinator. She retired in 2008 and worked from home as a medical transcriptionist for the Department of Radiology. She is survived by her two sons, Richard Broadhurst of Darien and Kevin Broadhurst of Milford, CT; and one grandchild, MaryElizabeth Broadhurst. She is also survived by a niece, Katherine Mammana of Delaware and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur F. Broadhurst in 1994 and a brother, Hubert Stevens. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Sunday, March 21, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Chapel, 1864 Post Road, Darien on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Post 53 Ambulance Service, P. O. Box 2066, Darien, CT 06820 or St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1864 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820.
