David E. White, a resident of Old Saybrook, CT for the past five years and a former Darien, CT resident, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at St. Raphael's Hospital in New Haven, CT. Born in 1942 in Toledo, OH, he was the son of the late Betty White and Frederick Kingsbury White. He was 67. David graduated from Darien High School and attended Boston University. He studied piano in London, England. He worked for 33 years as a salesman for Steinway & Sons Pianos in New York City. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. He had a great and long time love of music including his own jazz trio, The David White Jazz Trio who played in Manhattan. He is survived by a son, Steven D. White of Fairfield; a daughter, Thayer E. White of Darien; and two grandchildren, Samuel E. White of Darien and Alexander D. White of Fairfield. He is also survived by a sister, Julia W. Pine of Woodland Park, CO and his former wife, Marlana H. White of Old Saybrook. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1864 Post Road, Darien on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Book of Remembrance, 1864 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820.
