David D. Slabicki, a resident of Darien for the last 22 years, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2009 in Concord, NH. Born in 1954 in Rome, NY, he was the son of the late Eva Smothers and Frank Michael Slabicki. He was 55 years old. David received a Bachelors degree from Central Connecticut State University and then went on to attend Webster University in St Louis, MO where he received his Masters degree. David was also in the U.S. Air Force for 11 years and was honorably discharged as a Captain. He worked in Human Resources at Pitney Bowes, Converium and QBE The Americas. He was a former member of the Darien Social Services Commission. He enjoyed skiing, reading, kayaking, spending time with family and friends and riding his Harley. Dave lived life to the fullest and had an unforgettable personality and a very contagious laugh. He is survived by his wife, Susan Knisel Slabicki; two daughters, Nicole D. Slabicki and Rachel E. Slabicki all of Darien. He was also survived by his brother Walter Slabicki of Utica, NY and his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Russell H. Knisel of Cromwell, CT. Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Monday, August 24, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Noroton Presbyterian Chapel, 2011 Post Road, Darien on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
