Obituary of Lloyd Taylor Davis

Lloyd Taylor Davis, son of John G. and Mary Dean Martin Davis passed away on March 19, 2009 in Brooksville, FL, formerly of Darien. He was 82.
He was a wartime veteran of the Second World War, having served in the South Pacific with the U. S. Merchant Marine Navel Forces as a Warrant Radio Electrician on the S. S. James Lick of the Matson Navigation Lines of Seattle. He participated in many of the actions in the war including Okinawa, Guadalcanal and the Philippines. He also served in the U.S. Air Force after the service in the Merchant Marine.
Upon discharge, he returned to Darien, joined Pitney Bowes and later the U.S. Postal Service in Darien, retiring after 30 years of service.
He was active in the Darien Little League, the Maritime Museum of Norwalk, the Darien Junior Football League, Darien Senior Men's Association, the Nature Centers in both Darien and Brooksville and the Noroton Fire Department.
He is survived by a brother, John G. Davis, Jr. of Darien; two nephews John and Thomas and one niece, Deborah Anne Ivanoff.
Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Monday, April 6, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, Darien on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 11:00 AM. Private interment at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
