Obituary of Isabelle A. Shennan

Isabelle A. Shennan, 98, of Darien, CT, died on Thursday, December 25, 2008 at Courtland Gardens Health Care Center in Stamford, CT. She was born on June 7, 1910 in Berwyn, IL, the daughter of George and Isabelle (Chesterfield) Idler. She was predeceased by her husband, William Edgar Shennan, her mother and father and two siblings, John and George. She was a devoted mother to her four children: Patricia Byrne, Wauconda, IL; Susan Ozanne, Darien, CT; Robert Shennan, Elmhurst, IL; and Mary Kavanagh, Glenview, IL. Grandmother to Kathleen, Colleen, Kelly, Timothy, Jillian, Jeanne, William, Andrew, James, Erin and Katherine and great grandmother to Kayla, Reilly, Megan, Casey, Kendall, Amelia, Elizabeth, Kate, Jack, Sarah, Courtney, and Meredith all of whom survive her. She attended Rosary College (Dominican University) in River Forest, IL and was a resident of Oak Park, IL for 50 years where she was active in the Little Theatre Group and the St. Edmund's Women's Guild. She and her husband William retired to Largo, Fl where she became President of the Shangri-La Association. She lived there for 24 years. Mrs. Shennan loved knitting, crocheting, swimming, singing and maintained a keen sense of humor. A private family interment will be held at St. Edmunds Catholic Church in Oak Park, IL and Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL in June 2009.
