Obituary of Barbara J. Munson

Barbara Jane Munson, a long-time resident of Darien died Monday, September 22nd at Stamford Hospital. Born October 31, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Winifred and Howard R. Wright of Rockville Centre, NY. Barbara is survived by her husband of 58 years, Frank W. Munson; her sister , Susan C. Golder of Albuquerque, NM; her son Richard P. Munson of Seattle, WA, four daughters: Susan E. Carpenter of Darien, Betsy Mazza of Greenwich, Barbara J. Cronin of Fairfield, JoAnne Catalano of Greenwich; sons-in-law Timothy Carpenter, Robert Mazza, William Cronin, Robert Catalano; and fifteen grandchildren. With an abundance of kindness, she had a uniquely inspirational and contagious zest for life which was gracefully shared with all who knew her. Barbara will surely be missed. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 26th at 11 am at St. John RC Church in Darien, 1986 Post Road followed thereafter by a reception at Wee Burn Country Club, 410 Hollow Tree Ridge Road, Darien. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Darien Post 53, PO Box 2066, Darien, CT 06820 or to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, PO Box 27106, New York, NY 10087.
