Obituary of Julia D. Van Loan

Julia D. Van Loan, a resident of Darien, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 in Darien. Born in 1911 in Woodbridge, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Maurice P. and Jane Gerity Dunigan. She was 96.
Julia graduated from Woodbridge High School in Woodbridge, NJ and from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. She worked as a speech therapist at Fairfield Hall in Stamford.
Julia was a member of the Darien Community Association and Garden Club, the St. John's Mothers Circle and volunteered at the St. Joseph's Hospital.
She is survived by her three sons, William R. Van Loan, Jr. and his wife Eileen of Darien; John A. Van Loan of Newburyport, MA and Thomas M. Van Loan also of Darien; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth B. Van Loan, Jamieson Van Loan, Julia M. Van Loan and William Rodman Van Loan all of Darien; and one great granddaughter, Emma D. Van Loan also of Darien. She is also survived by her sister, Jane D. Warr of Stamford, CT. She was predeceased by her husband, Wm. Rodman Van Loan and by one sister, Marie D. Desmond and three brothers, Bernard Dunigan, Maurice Dunigan and John Dunigan.
Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, August 7, 2008 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, 374 Middlesex Road, Darien on Friday, August 8, 2008 at 10:30 AM. Burial will be private.
