Obituary of Estelle S. Burke

Estelle S. Burke of Stamford passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Stamford Hospital following a brief illness. She was 98. Mrs. Burke was born in Wadesville, PA to the late John and Josephine Larish. She was predeceased by her husband Martin S. Burke in 1957. Mrs. Burke was a devoted mother to Martin J. Burke of Waipahu, HI; William M. (Priscilla) Burke of Rowatyon and Patricia (Weda) Falasca of Fairfield. She was a loving grandmother to Michelle (Brian) Watson; Christopher (Laura) Burke and Brian Falasca as well as great grandchildren Madeline and James Watson. She is also survived by brothers Anthony (Violet) Larish, Philip (Shirley) Larish and sisters Katherine Larish and Eva (John) Sleva along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Burke was a resident of Greenwich for many years before moving to Stamford in 1983. She was employed by the F.W. Woolworth Company in Greenwich as a buyer while raising her children. She was an active member of St. Mary's R.C. Church. She enjoyed being with her family and many dear friends and neighbors. She was an avid reader and enjoyed daily walks to the park up until the week she died. She had a zest for life and a wonderful sense of humor. It was her wish to be cremated with a private internment. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
