Obituary of Richard T. Keane

Richard T. Keane, a life long resident of Darien, CT, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2008 in Darien. Born in 1922 in New York City, he was the son of the late Thomas Joseph and Delia (Moggan) Keane. He was 86. Richard graduated from Darien High School. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 38 years retiring in 1983 as a Post Office Clerk. He was also a long time, part time employee of the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, a part time employee of Noroton Publishing, a long time volunteer of the Noroton Fire Department as Fire Police, a long time volunteer of the Stamford Knights of Columbus St. Augustine Council No. 41 and a charter member of Post 6933 V.F.W. of Darien. He is survived by three nephews, Michael T. Keane of Stamford; John J. Keane, Jr. of Darien and Patrick M. Keane of Norwalk; two nieces, Patti Keane Laskey of Lakewood, OH and Mary-Jo Keane of Darien and 10 grand nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mrs. Dora Gilbert of New Canaan. He was predeceased by his wife, Marlene Gilbert Keane and two brothers, John J. and William P. Keane. Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R. C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan.
