Obituary of Cosima Wagner

Cosima Wagner passed to eternal rest on October 14, 2018 at the age of 97. Cosima was born and educated in Leipzig, Germany. She came to the United States in 1950 and was employed at the headquarters of The Singer Company in Manhattan. Cosima moved to Stamford in 1979 with Singer, and retired in 1988. She then taught German at Berlitz Language School for five years. One of her hobbies was languages. She was almost fluent in Italian which she had started to learn after meeting her Italian husband. They both spent many happy weeks in the family home in Amalfi at the Sorrento Coast. Cosima was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church, serving as an elder and financial secretary. She was a member of Ruth Fellowship, Womens Discussion Group, Zions church choir, volunteered in the church office, served at Covenant House and visited homebound members. Her close friends at Zion were her family including a few long-time friends. Cosima is survived by a niece, Dr. Kathrin Peters of Cambridge, England. Cosi was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Vittorio Coiro, her sister Isolde Peters and her brother-in-law Gnther Peters. A Memorial Service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 132 Glenbrook Road, Stamford on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Cosimas memory may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 132 Glenbrook Road, Stamford, CT 06902.
