Obituary of Antra O. Richardson

On Saturday December 1st, 2018, Antra Ozols Richardson, loving mother of Dan Richardson and Wendy Richardson, passed away surrounded by her family & friends. Antra was born on October 2nd 1944 in Danzig Germany, modern day Gdansk Poland. Her parents, Ernest and Wilma Ozols, along with her older brother, Peter, had to leave their home in Latvia, fleeing from war torn Europe. Her early years were spent in a "Displaced Persons" Camp after WWII. Antra and her family eventually immigrated to the United States. Antra graduated from Stamford High School in 1962. She married John E. Richardson, Jr. a few months later; they raised 2 children Dan and Wendy. Antra went onto building a successful sheetrock supply company, Richardson Gypsum Supply, with her husband. Antra had a passion for antiques and music. She was an avid collector and dealer of antiques. She loved Elvis, The Rolling Stones, and Creedence Clearwater Revival, just to name a few. She was a proud Latvian American, and she donated to many Latvian causes. She was known for her mischievous smile, statuesque physique, and her giving nature. Antra was preceded in death by her father, Ernest, her mother, Wilma, and her brother Peter. She is survived by her son Dan Richardson and her daughter Wendy Richardson. She is also survived by her cousins Juris Germanis, and Vija Germanis; her nephews, Peter Ozols, Joseph Haberny and Greg Haberny, and her nieces, PJ Conrad and Theresa Haberny. Her former spouse, John E Richardson, Jr. and her longtime friends Roger Mancini, Marilyn Brennan, and Mary Ellen Haberny. A viewing will be held Thursday, December 6th from 4-8 pm at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Rd., Darien, CT. A funeral service will be held Friday, December 7th at 10:30 am at St. Johns Lutheran Church, in the side chapel, located at 884 Newfield Ave., Stamford, CT.
