Obituary of Stanford J. Hammond

Stanford Jacques Hammond passed away suddenly at home in New Milford, CT on February 14, 2019. Stan fought for life as he awaited a kidney transplant the last 4 years. Stan was born on October 8, 1953 in Washington, DC to Thomas Milton Hammond and Francine Giselle (nee Desmonts). He lived primarily in Stamford, graduating from Catholic High and Sacred Heart University. Above all Stan was an avid airline pilot who soloed on his 16th birthday at Sky Life Flying Club. His aviation career included flying for Eastern Airlines, Merlin Express, Champion Air, Northwest Airlink, and UPS. Recently Stan worked with Gardella Couriers. Music was another passion. As a talented keyboardist, Stan performed with Laughin Bones, Home Brood, Juicy Grapes, The Stan Hammond Band and numerous other musicians including the open mic house band at Seaside. He is survived by his daughter Michelle (Jason Segovia) of Stamford, grandchildren Nico and Nova Segovia of Stamford, his sister Jessica Hausman of New Milford, his ex-wife Dawn of Stamford, many other relatives and friends. The family wishes to recognize and thank Stans healthcare teams specifically for their exceptional and compassionate care of our beloved: Dr. Brenda Chan, Nephrologist; DaVita Stamford Dialysis; Stamford Hospital, and Danbury and New Milford Hospitals in the Western Connecticut Health Network. Visitation will be at St. Maurice Church, 358 Glenbrook Rd on Wednesday, March 27 at 10 AM followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 AM. Interment will be private.
