Obituary of Donald J. Kilmartin, Jr.

Don passed away on February 27, 2008 after a long brave battle with cancer. He was born in Englewood, NJ on November 13, 1940 to Margaret and Donald Kilmartin and grew up in Montclair, NJ. He attended Montclair High School where he excelled at sports, earning nine varsity letters. He then attended Villanova University, where he played rugby, majored in Marketing and graduated in 1963. He was a Magazine and Sales promotion executive working with Medical Economics and House & Garden Magazine among others. He was a devoted father and coach of little league football, ice hockey and baseball. He served on the Board of Directors of Noroton Bay Association where he was also elected King of the Bay, played Santa Claus and was Director of Parades. He also served on the Board of the Darien Youth Hockey Association. He was an Indian Guide Chief and a Cub Scout Leader. Don lived in Noroton Bay for 32 years, enjoying sunsets and golf cart rides to the beach with his wife and grandson. Don is survived by his wife Judy, his son D.J. and wife Joanne, his son Douglas and wife Amanda and his grandson Jack. He is also survived by sisters Kerry Mangan of Hilton Head, SC and Margaret Sawyer of Southport, CT. He was predeceased by his brother Ken Kilmartin. He also leaves behind six nephews and three nieces. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R.C.
