Obituary of Clifford Thomas Young Whitehead

Clifford Thomas Young Whitehead, 88 a 60-year resident of Darien, CT, died at home June 19 2010. He was the son of the late James and Jessie Young Whitehead of England. Born in New York City, he grew up in Darien and attended Darien schools, from Baker Elementary through graduation at Darien High School. He worked at Yale and Towne in Stamford where he met his future wife Mildred. He joined the US Coast Guard during WWII. After serving, he worked for Consolidated Diesel in Greenwich as a tool and die maker, and later, Connecticut Limousine. He was a loving, devoted father and grandfather, helping with home repair projects and attending many of his grandchildren's sports events. Clifford also enjoyed following the UCONN Huskies basketball teams. He will be remembered for his loving ways and unique sense of humor. He was predeceased by his wife Mildred (Scipioni) of 51 years, and brothers Donald and James. He is survived by his daughter Patricia (John) Visi, sons Clifford (Tracey), Richard, and Mark Whitehead, 9 grandchildren, and his loyal dog Bauer. Calling hours will be held at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Rd. Darien, CT 06820 on Tuesday June 22, 2010 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Lawrence Funeral Home on Wednesday June 23, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
