Obituary of Frances T. Evola

Frances T. Evola, a resident of Darien, CT and a former resident of Fresh Meadows, NY for over 50 years, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 in Darien. Born in 1928 in Flushing, NY, she was the daughter of the late Francis Joseph and Catherine Veronica (O'Dowd) Fitzpatrick. She was 79. Frances received a Bachelors in Economics from Queens College and a Masters in Guidance from St. John's University. She worked for the New York City Board of Education as a 3rd grade teacher. She then worked for many years as a Guidance Counselor at P.S. 158, the Marie Curie Middle School in Bayside, NY. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Rocco A. Evola of Darien; a daughter, Maura Evola Jonker and he husband Ed of Darien; a son, Kevin Evola of Melbourne Beach, FL; and two grandchildren, John and Scott Jonker. She is also survived by a sister, Kathleen Simpson of Westport, CT; a brother, James Gerard Fitzpatrick of New York City, NY and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Sister Mary Elizabeth Fitzpatrick and Cecelia Betts. Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT on Friday, April 11, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at Mount St. Mary Cemetery in Queens, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, 1663 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, PA 19020.
