I always intended to visit my Aunt Maudie--my late father Curtis would have loved my doing that--but I never got around to it. As anyone who reads this knows more than I, Maudie was an exceptional woman, the longest surviving child of an exceptional family. When I was eight or ten years old, she came to visit my family in Richmond, and I was allowed to stay up late talking with her, and my memory is she loved to talk. That conversation that night helped to form the rest of my life, and it's never left me. I'm going to try very hard to make it to the service on June 17. Ann, I'll let you know. Peace and joy to all who read this and who knew my wonderful, one-of-a-kind aunt.

The loss of a cherished loved one is the most devastating experiences a family can face. At times, the loss may seem unbearable. Please know that there are people who care and more importantly Psalm 34:18 tells us that "God is near to those that are broken at heart. He is the God of all comfort. Our prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time of grief.

Ann and Family, Maude was such a loving and wonderful person. We were so fortunate to know her and loved seeing her tend to all the beautiful flowers. She was truly an inspiration and full of love for all who knew her. With our deepest condolences and love to you all, Anthony & Kim

What a gift God had for me, when I began to know and be known by Maudie Miller Pettus! We shared stories about our past with awe about how Our Heavenly Father had worked in it all! I felt as if God had knit our spirits together. It was always a treasure to spend time together, whether visiting her at home when she didn't feel well (we'd visit as if we were childhood friends or sisters, talking and talking in her bedroom) or taking her for her ever-important appointments with the hairdresser or doctors. No matter where, but especially at church, she charmed everyone with her positive spirit, joy in living and effusive love! I'm honored to have called her friend and sister-in-Christ!!! And now, Maudie, you are in the presence of the KING!! Amen!

The single nicest person that I've ever met. Ms. Pettus epitomizes perfection, respect, kindness and selflessness in human being. This nation and the wider world has lost a true champion of decency.
