Obituary of Michael Francis Finn

Michael Francis Finn, 82, a resident of Darien, CT for 42 years, left this world on April 21, 2011 at the Norwalk Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his beloved wife of 51 years, Ellen (Boyle) Finn; 3 sons and their spouses: Richard and Debra, Kevin and Hope and Thomas and Karen and daughter Eileen; 11 grandchildren: Kaitlin & Bridget Melsenti; Connor, Dylan, Riley, Kathryn; Travis, Michael, Shauna; Tyghe and Sheila. Also he is survived by a sister, Mary Donohue and 2 brothers, Gabriel and Vincent also many cousins and close friends. In his early years, Mike worked hard on his family�s farm in Galway, Ireland. He left at the age of 20 for America to make his mark on the world. Being a man of God and Country, he showed his patriotism to his new home by joining the United States Armed Forces. Mike was honorably discharged in 1956 from the Army. Mike worked on Metro-North railroad as a conductor for 46 years. Upon retiring Mike and Ellen enjoyed summers back home in Ireland and winters with their children and grandchildren. Mike was an active member of St Thomas More Church in Darien and the Gaelic American Club in Fairfield; a kind and gentle man who always went above and beyond to help anyone in need. Mike was a man of few words but his actions spoke volumes. He loved his family, children, a passion for gardening and a good laugh. Mike believed in giving everything and expecting nothing in return. Our hearts ache at his loss. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, 374 Middlesex Road, Darien on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 10:30 AM.
