Obituary of Homer Tolivaisa

Homer Tolivaisa, a resident of Stamford, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Sunrise Assisted Living on Turn of River Road in Stamford. He was 90 years of age, born in 1917 in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. He was the son of the late John and Nellie (Pelecka) Tolivaisa. Mr. Tolivaisa graduated from Brown University with an AB degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1939, a graduate of Harvard Business School with a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in 1941. He attended the Military General Line School from 1946 to 1947, Armed Forces Staff College in 1956 and the Naval War College from 1956 to 1958. He was also a member of the Darien Senior Men's Association. He served with the U.S. Navy for 27 years during World War II and the Korean Conflict. In 1963, he was assigned to the Field Support Activity Office of the Chief of Naval Operations in Washington, DC as an Assistant Operations Officer. He retired with the rank of Commander in October of 1966. He is survived by one son, Peter H. Tolivaisa of Stamford. Homer Tolivaisa is now with his wife, Judith Ann Ingersoll Tolivaisa; two brothers, Alvah Tolivaisa and Newton Tolivaisa and one sister, Norma Fixx. Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 4:00 PM.
