Obituary of William H. Thomas

William H. Thomas, a resident of Stamford, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014in Stamford. Born April 22, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Leonard and Doreen (Meredith) Thomas. He was 64. William received an AAS from the College of Staten Island, Staten Island, NY and a BS degree from Brooklyn College, Brooklyn, NY. He was Director of Compliance for Fixed Income Trading and Institutional Sales with Merrill Lynch and Co., Inc. He was also Senior Vice President of Counter-Party Risk Management, a member of the Securities Industry Association Institutional Sales Profession Ethics Committee, Bond Market Association Advisory Group in Education and Vice-Chairman of the Securities Industry Regulatory Council on Continuing Education. He served with the U.S. Navy during Vietnam as a Radioman Seaman with the Mobile Riverine Force from 1968 to 1969 for which he received the Purple Heart. He was president of Lake of the Pine Water Co. in East Stroudsburg, PA. He is survived by his two children, Meredith Thomas of Stamford and Matthew Thomas of Norwalk and one grandchild, George Tzirkidis Thomas. He is also survived by his former wife, Barbara Thomas, a brother David Thomas and a sister, Ann Connors. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien.
