Lois L. Bates, 83, a longtime resident of Darien, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26 at Stamford Hospital. Mrs. Bates was born April 23, 1930 to the late Frank and Mary Heinbaugh. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Lois worked as a market research coder for several local firms. She was a member of the Better Breathing Club at the Tully Health Center and enjoyed the many friendships which she developed there. Some of her happiest times were those spent with family and friends gathered to celebrate birthdays, holidays and family reunions. She believed in sharing and passing on the importance of family ties and history.
She is survived by her husband Franklin of Darien, her daughter Jeanette Soltes of Stamford and two sons, William of Fairfield, and Daniel of Southbury. She will be remembered by her six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Bates was predeceased by her sisters Liberty Magnuson and Audrey Papp.
The family would like to thank Masonicare Hospice, Dr. Praveen Reddy, Dr. Paul Sachs, and the nurses and staff of Main 2 North at Stamford Hospital for the compassionate care they gave to Lois during her final days.
