Obituary of Bertha Lasko Summerton

Bertha Lasko Summerton, a life long resident of Darien, CT, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2007 in Darien. Born in 1918 in Darien, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Lancos) Lasko. She was 89.
Bertha attended Baker School and graduated from Darien High School in 1936. During World War II, she was employed by the War Department from 1944 to 1945 with the Army Air Forces at the Air Technical Service Command inspecting airplane parts. She worked for various companies in lower Fairfield County retiring from Capital Records in 1971.
Bertha was a parishioner of St. Thomas More R.C. Church where she participated in the choir and was an active volunteer with many activities. She was also involved with St. Bridget’s Senior Club and Springdale Senior Club. She is survived by a son Stephen M. Summerton, Sr. and a daughter Julianne M. Summerton both of Darien; three grandchildren, Stephen, Jr., Andrea, and Karen Summerton all of Darien. She is also survived by two brothers, John W. Lasko and Joseph Lasko both of Stamford and one sister, Eleanor Munson of Cornwall, NY. She is predeceased by her husband Nelson L. Summerton (1950); two brothers, Rev. Stephen J. Lasko and Paul J. Lasko and three sisters, Betty Hlavac, Mary Lasko and Julie McCaffrey.
Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Monday, December 3, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, 374 Middlesex Road, Darien on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Darien.
