Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard "Ricky" Harrison Humes III, loving Brother and devoted Uncle, passed away on December 17th 2013. Ricky was born October 21, 1946 in Latrobe, Pa. He is pre-deceased by his parents Richard Harrison Humes Jr. and Kathryn Nagy Humes. Ricky served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Ricky moved to Darien in 2005 from his home in New Orleans following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. He loved gardening, his dogs Holly and Piper and his Nieces and Nephews. A gifted artist in the medium of wood working, Ricky created three dimensional scenes of nature and animals called Intarsia. Most of his pieces he gave away as gifts to family and friends. He loved what he did so much that he never could put a price on it to sell. Ricky left a lasting impression on everyone he met by virtue of his kind and generous personality. He taught us all humility, honesty, the art of giving and to be grateful for the simple pleasures in life. His treasures were his family and the life he shared with them. He was our treasure and we will miss him.
Ricky is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Jeanne and Art Van Sciver of Darien, and a sister Kathryn Spetrino of Stratford. His nieces and nephews, Wendy and Ben Cortina, Jesse Humes Ryan, Artie and Kittery Van Sciver, Jessica Van Sciver, Kaylyn and Nicolas Reid and his pups Holly and Piper.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 5:00 PM. A private family Interment will be held in Latrobe PA.
