Obituary of Sid L. Schmidt

Sid L. Schmidt, a resident of Darien, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2010 in Darien. Born May 15, 1923 in Washington, DC, he was a son of the late Louis H. and Kate Levy Schmidt. He was 87. Sid moved to Stamford in the 1940's. He graduated from Stamford High School and subsequently enlisted in the U.S. Army Aircorps after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served in the CBI (China-India-Burma) Campaign. After being honorably discharged by the Army in 1945, he attended Columbia University, graduating with a degree in geology. He married Jane Perkinson in Darien on November 2, 1958. They lived in Wayne, NJ until 1969 when they moved to Darien. He worked as a sales engineer for various companies. He is survived by his wife, Jane of Darien; two sons, Steven L. Schmidt and his wife Debra, and their four sons, Brian, Daniel, Alex and Thomas, of San Diego, CA and David H. Schmidt and his wife Louise, and their three children, Wiley, Lana and Sommer, of Darien. He is also survived by his brother, William Schmidt of Seattle, WA as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Robert and his sister, Beverly Davis. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, October 28, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
