Obituary of Joan Marinella Scribner

Joan Marinella Scribner, a resident of Vista, NY, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at her home. Born July 19, 1935 in Stamford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Antoinette and Carmine Marinella. Joan grew up in Stamford and attended Sacred Heart Academy where she graduated as Salutatorian. Two years later, she graduated from Georgetown Visitation with an Associate's Degree. Joan has been an active member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Norwalk. She has ushered there many years as well as participated in St. Ann's Society, the bereavement group and CHAI, the Catholic Health Association of India. Joan was a volunteer at the New Canaan Library and at Norwalk Hospital. Joan is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Scribner who she married in 1957. They lived most of their married life in Vista, NY. Joan is survived by her two daughters, Beth Boyland of Bedford, NY and Susan Tassitano of Cumming, GA and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Norwalk. The St. Ann Auxiliary will assemble at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 12, 2016.
