Joseph (Joe) Leo, a resident of Sparta, NJ and a former long time Darien, CT and Stamford, CT resident, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at Newton Memorial Hospital in Newton, NJ. Born in 1920 in Dasa, Catanzaro, Italy, he was the son of the late Frank and M. Catherine (David) Leo. He was 87. Joe worked as a barber in the Stamford, CT area for over 60 years. Joe is survived by his wife Philomena Toscano Leo of Sparta, NJ; a son Frank Leo also of Sparta, NJ; a daughter, Stella Nardi of Florida and three grandchildren, Deena Andreola, Katherine and Marissa Leo; and one great grandchild, Dominick Andreola. He is also survived by a brother, Nicola Leo and a sister, Palma Leo both of Italy. Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien, CT on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, Darien, CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1 Union Street, Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691 or the charity of your choice.
