Marc and Danielle, We were so sorry to hear about the passing of your dad/father in law. He sounds like he was an awesome person from reading this lovely obituary. He raised one heck of a great son and the apple probably did not fall far from the tree. May the wonderful memories you all have of him give you some peace and comfort during this very sad time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Fondly, Peggy and Charlie

Preston McEwan always seemed to have an unbending, unaltering plan and purpose to his life. At the same time he always reminded me of the cat that swallowed the canary. He had a smugness and inner joy of life that he could not conceal. Many people moving into a senior residence withdraw emotionally or simply give up. Preston flourished! He was resolute in pursuing his pastimes and interests. He continued his involvement with the Darien Senior Men's Association and the Darien United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Carol, personalized their new apartment at Sunrise of Stamford. He adopted the house dog, Happy. His apartment always reminded me of a scene from Ozzie and Harriet. He enthusiastically followed his UConn Huskies which meant having two T.V's in his small accommodation so not to annoy his wife. He frequently joined me in watching the New York Yankees or the Super Ball late into the night. I know he will be missed by Carol and his devoted family. I know his spirit lives on with them as it does with me. He was an inspiration to all of us. Michael Ellegaard 22 Nesaquake Ave. Port Washington, NY 11050 516-603-7124 mikerochpw@aol.com

I am very sorry to read of the loss of, Mr. McEwan. He was a very faithful and dedicated man, married for 63 years! I won't pretend to know what you're going through, but what has helped me deal with the loss of those I love is turning to the Scriptures, something that has been a real source of comfort. One Scripture that gives me hope is, John 11:25, which says, " Jesus said to her: "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life." I hope that this verse will also comfort you and, I hope you and your family can get through this difficult time. Please accept my condolences for the loss of your beloved husband, father, grandpa and friend. Sincerely, Meryl, jw.org
