Peg Platten played important roles separately in both George's and Marian's lives. In spite of his massive stroke, George still remembers her always with great fondness as her student at Collegiate School and wishes he was able write somthing here. Writing now as Marian. I have always felt a particular closeness to Peg that does not necessarily spring from the fact that we shared same college, but because I have always looked to her courage, quick intelligence, and loyalty as a model to be held closely. Conversations with her left me energized and happier, and I will always feel grateful and honored by her invitation for me to join her as a board member of The New-York Historical Society. I continued on after she left, and it was an exceptional and wonderful experience that will be with me always. I will hold Peg close to my heart for the rest of my life.
