I had the pleasure of feeling part of this wonderful family. Papa was a wonderful funny kind and thoughtful man who loved all his family dearly. It was a pleasure to be in his company, to eat his wonderful cooking and then listen to his wonderful singing. It always made me feel homesick to be in Granny and Papas company, but yet so much at home listening to that wonderful Scottish burr. Truly a man it was a pleasure to know, he will be truly sadly missed. Love hugs and prayers to Olive, Leslie, Barbara, the Cathy, Rob and families. A very special family who I miss dearly. Lynnie.

His vitality, humor, thoughtfulness, generosity and wisdom are some of the many attributes that combined to make him the special and memorable person he was. To my dearest friends... May you find solace in the treasured memory of your beloved husband and devoted father. In golden moments shared...his joie de vivre...his passion and interest in Life...his humor...his strength. You, his Family, were his pride and his joy. His presence touched all who knew him with richness and with warmth. And, as I wrote to you earlier this week, always with a twinkle in his eye. Yes, there is a new star in the mantle of night - a star that shines so very brightly while God, who holds you all in the palm of His hand, welcomes Kenneth Clark Bates into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Lynnie.
