Obituary of Magdalen K. O'Brien

Magdalen Koropsak O'Brien, 84, a longtime resident of Stamford, passed away on September 10, 2013 at Edgehill after a brief illness. She was born in Bayonne, NJ on May 25, 1929. The daughter of the late Agnes (Fedorka) and Andrew Koropsak. She grew up in Greenwich, CT and graduated from Greenwich high School and the Greenwich Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She worked at Greenwich Hospital as an operating room nurse and American Cyanamid. Magdalen is predeceased by her husband Thomas J. O'Brien, her sister Doris Ulasky, and Anna Koropsak, the beloved aunt who raised her. She is survived by her loving children, son Thomas O'Brien and his wife Kerrin of Puyallup, WA; daughter Holly Mickelson and her husband Michael of Stamford, CT; and granddaughters Hannah and Katie Mickelson. She will be remembered for her loving devotion to her family, her great sense of humor, and her bright outlook on life. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, September 12, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
