Obituary of Marion Shirley Doscher

Marion Shirley Doscher, a resident of Darien for 58 years, passed away on August 22 at Bethel Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bethel.
Born on May 23, 1919 in Bridgeport, she was the loving wife of the late Eugene B. Doscher and daughter of the late Charles and Katherine Skoglund. She was 94.
Marion graduated from Stamford High School in 1937 and attended the former Shorts Secretarial School on Bedford Street in Stamford. She was employed as an executive secretary at Fawcett Publications in Greenwich. Marion loved horses and was an avid equestrian. She often went horseback riding with friends on trails in southwestern Connecticut. She also loved to dance. She was passionate about her love of animals and advocated their humane treatment. Marion especially loved spending time with her family and always greeted people with a warm smile. She traveled with her family to points throughout New England and elsewhere in the United States. She most enjoyed her family vacations at Cape Cod, Mass. She liked to sew and had designed clothing. She was a long-time member of a sewing group at the Darien Senior Center. She also was a member of St. Thomas More Church in Darien.
Marion is survived by a daughter, Lynn Doscher-Vreeland of Brewster, Mass.; a son, Robert Doscher, and his wife, Lori, of New Fairfield; two grandchildren, Bryce and Kaitlin Doscher; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Tropsa of Orleans, Mass.
The Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, Darien, is handling arrangements. Burial will be private. Interment will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
