Obituary of Thomas Jay Scribner

Thomas Jay Scribner, age 71 of Lewisboro, NY, died Friday, March 16, 2007. He was born in Stamford, the son of the late Ruth Morris and G. Frederick Scribner in 1935. He attended Stamford schools, and graduated from Chincoteaque High School in Chincoteague, VA where he earned several awards for running track and was a valued member of their football team. He attended East Carolina College and served two years with the U.S. Army in Mainz, Germany.
For the past 22 years, he was a builder in the Fairfield and Westchester County area and was a member of CT Carpenter’s Union Local 210.
He enjoyed golf and was an avid sports fan, particularly football and basketball.
Mr. Scribner was a communicant of St. Matthew Church in Norwalk and served as an usher there for several years. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and was currently Deputy Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1852 in Mt. Kisco, NY.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Marinella Scribner; daughters Susan Lynne Tassitano of Cumming, GA and Beth Scribner Boyland of Bedford, NY; and four beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn and Joseph, J.T., Tassitano both of Cumming, GA, and Julia Maureen and William Thomas Boyland both of Bedford, NY. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Scribner of Mystic, CT; Frederick Scribner of New Milford, CT and one sister, Mary Stone of Indianapolis, IN and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk, CT on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow at St. John’s R.C. Cemetery in Norwalk.
