Donald Garbera, a resident of Stamford for over 30 years, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in Stamford. Born on January 22, 1945 in New York City, NY, he was the son of the late Theodore and Theresa Garbera. He was 68. Donald was a writer and photographer for over 40 years. He was an artist who showcased his work at various Fairfield County venues. He had many interests which included art, photograph, sculpture, painting, as well as hiking. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Holy Assumption Russian Orthodox Church. He is survived by his son, Theodore J. Garbera and his wife, Claire and two grandsons, John W. Garbera and Mark R. Garbera all of Norwalk. He is also survived by a brother, John P. Garbera of Stamford. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Holy Assumption Russian Orthodox Church, 141 Den Road, Stamford on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place at St. Vladimir's Russian Orthodox Cemetery in Jackson, NJ.
