Obituary of Pauline Ellis Hornik

Pauline Ellis Hornik died March 8, 2013. Paula was born in Plymouth, England, on June 25, 1922, and came to the United States when she was 16 months old. The daughter of Violet Willcocks Ellis and Reginald Ellis, she lived in Darien. As a graduate of Darien High School and IBM Business College, she worked for IBM in New York City and later for Electrolux in Old Greenwich as a Supervisor of the Computer Division. Paula was married at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Darien, to Joseph Francis Hornik, who predeceased her. They were given property by her parents to build their home in West Norwalk. After their honeymoon, they moved into their newly-built home where they lived for the rest of their lives. Paula enjoyed her friends and was a very generous person. She was extremely close to her brother, Clifton W. Ellis, of Darien, who also predeceased her. They enjoyed going to the Darien beach together and Paula loved to help at his antique shop in town. Paula loved to travel, whether it was to Europe or through New England, and enjoyed going antiquing, working around her home, and watching the birds, turkeys and deer on her property. Paula was survived by many good friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 14, 10:30 a.m., at Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
