Obituary of Jean A. Jerige

Jean A. Jerige, 79, died on Friday, January 25th, peacefully at home in Darien, CT surrounded by her loved ones. Her husband Walter C. Jerige, preceded her in death. She was born to the late Walter McCarthy and Frances Costello McCarthy and was raised in Norwalk, CT. Jean attended Sacred Heart Academy and graduated from Danbury State Teachers College. She was a resident of Darien for 30 years. She was a much loved, active member of Trinity Church in Greenwich, CT and also a member of Women of Vision, Greenwich chapter. Her genuinely kind spirit was evident in her beautiful smile, her quiet way and her love for others. She is survived by her five children, Brian Reed (MaryBeth) of Munroe Falls, OH; Sheila Reed of Phoenix, AZ; Carol Roy of Cheshire, CT; Frances Reed of Darien, CT; Susan Hanson (Bret) of Hudson, ME; and her grandchildren Christopher, Thomas (Kelly), Erin, Colleen and Moira. She is also survived by her brother Robert McCarthy (Jenny) of Westport, CT. She was predeceased by her brother Walter McCarthy and a sister Mary McCarthy. She was predeceased by her former husband, Daniel E. Reed, Jr. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 13th at 11:00 AM at the Christ Church, Greenwich, CT. A luncheon reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
