I am so saddened to learn of Tom's passing last week and send my deepest condolences to his family. I worked with Tom at Neato for 9 years before moving south to TN. We worked side by side for the last couple of years in the customer service and technical support group. When you work in a small office, your co-workers become like a second family, so Tom and I had many conversations between phone calls about everything and anything you can think of. Tom was especially proud of his daughters, and although I've never met them, I felt like I knew them. He also loved to talk about his adventures mining in rain or shine. I remember him designing a pulley so he could hoist the rocks and dirt up in a bucket, instead of carrying them out of the hole. He would show me the beautiful crystals that he collected. He was a very patient and kind man, and always had a smile on his face. He was truly a gentle soul. The world was a better place with Tom in it. May his soul rest in peace.

Tom was a close friend at St John & Paul and if you remember me, i lived just around the corner on Beechtree Drive... He and i spent hours on the Leatherstocking Trail, which begins just behind my childhood home, he collected rocks(surprise!)and I rocks, bones, feathers, bits of glass, pieces of wood ( I am a crow...hahaha)... Only Tom understood this...the rest of our schoolmates no doubt thought we had Rocks in our heads... So I guess I was there when his Love of being a rock hound began... Thanks to Fb, we reconnected... Had a period of homelessness and thrice he talked me out of suicide... I thank the Lord for having known Tom and will miss him till I join him (if the Lord finds me worthy to stand alongside my dear old Friend).. My condolences to your Family.for your loss is far greater than my grief... The Lord blest all who knew Thomas Volpe... Peace on Earth

Who could talk to me about ROCKS, MINERALS, ARTIFACTS, and ARROWHEADS for an hour without being boring? Who was so enthusiastic, good natured, funny, helpful and loving? Who left THIS world too soon, but will find peace, fulfillment and eternal love in God's Kingdom? TOM VOLPE, that's who. RIP Tom.

I don't know who wrote this but I think it says it all: "What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch. We may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget"
