Obituary of Douglas J. Marchesi

Douglas J. Marchesi, a former Darien resident and brother of Bob and Craig Marchesi, both of Darien, died on Sunday, December 17, 2006. He was the son of former Darien resident, Marcia L. Marchesi of Rowayton and the late Robert J. Marchesi. He was 44. Born June 23, 1962 in West Hartford, CT, Doug graduated from Darien High School in 1980. He was a member of the DHS undefeated 1979 State Champion football team. He then went on to graduate from Western Connecticut State College in 1985. Doug worked as a sales manager for MidAtlantic Telecom in New York City for 11 years, and upon moving to San Francisco worked in a sales capacity in telecommunications. Doug was an active volunteer for much of his life: He was a member of the Explorer Post 53 as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and in San Francisco, Doug transported and accompanied the elderly to Sunday mass at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption. In addition to his mother and two brothers, Doug is survived by his two sister-in-laws, and three nieces Kelly, Amy and Kimber Marchesi and two nephews, Robert and Christian Marchesi. He was predeceased by his sister, Robin L. Marchesi-Hittle and his father Robert J. Marchesi. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, December 28, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Friday, December 29, 2006 at 10:00 AM.
