Obituary of Mark P. Forlenzo

People touch our lives in many different ways. Whether it’s something they do or because of something that they say… but they are unforgettable to those who know & love them. Mark was one of those people. Just 43 years old, Mark passed away of Leukemia Thursday, August 17th at Yale New Haven Hospital. Born April 2nd 1963, he is the son of Nora Forlenzo of Darien and the late Salvatore Forlenzo, III. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Salvatore and Katherine Forlenzo, Jr. of Riverside, CT and his maternal grandparents, Peter and Mary Harrington of County Cork, Ireland. After graduating Darien High School in 1981, Mark became involved in property management and real estate. Additionally, Mark was employed by the New Canaan Board of Education and was head custodian for South School in New Canaan. Mark was a very dedicated employee who enjoyed his work, in turn, Mark was loved by the school staff and students. A very loving husband, he is survived by his wife Dianne of 10 years, and a beautiful 4 year old son Brandon whom he cherished & was very proud of. He is also survived by two brothers; Sal Forlenzo of Boise, Idaho and Dan Forlenzo of Darien, a sister Noreen Forlenzo also of Darien, nine proud nieces & nephews and extended family. We truly believe that Mark is gracing heaven with his love & laughter, and he will never ever be forgotten. He will be remembered by all as a wonderful, adorable, kind hearted person who would help anyone. He fought his illness with bravery and with grace, and he will be missed terribly. Like many of us, since September 11th, 2001, Mark came to recognize the initials F.D.N.Y. as representative of heroes, bravery and strength. Qualities deserved by a rare few. They’re not just for firemen… The family will receive friends and relatives at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Sunday, August 20, 2006 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R.C. Church 1986 Post Road, Darien on Monday, August 21, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Stamford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Brandon Forlenzo Educational Fund, 63 Norman Road, Stamford, CT 06906.
