Obituary of Evelyn Vitti

Evelyn Vitti passed away on September 14, 2015 in Stamford. Born in 1930 in Stamford, CT, she was the daughter of Joseph (died 1952) and Rose M. Papallo (died 1957). She graduated from Darien High School in 1948. Evelyn grew up on Joseph Street, where she met her husband, Joseph P. Vitti, who lived across the street. Mr. Vitti died in 2003. The couple was married at St. Johns R.C. Church in 1951. She raised her three children and worked part time as a bank teller at Union Trust, freelance bookkeeper, as a cashier at Palmers Market, as well as preparing lunch meals at The Heights Restaurant when it was operated by her husband Joe. She was also on the Darien School Board. Evelyn was a member of St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Stamford for a number of years. She is survived by her sisters Florence Sestito, of Darien; Louis Rondano of Minnetonka, MN; and Jean Cosway of Las Cruces, NM. Also her son Joseph A. Vitti of Indianapolis, IN; son Micky Vitti of Darien; and daughter Judy Vitti Ferris (Mark) of Darien; four grandchildren, Robin Golembieski Larry)of Durham, CT; Kimmy Ferris of Shelton, CT; Amy Ferris and Brooke Ferris, both in Darien; and great granddaughter Paige Embry of Shelton also survive. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Vladimir's Cathedral, 24 Wenzel Terrace, Stamford on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
