Helen P. Osterman, a resident of Darien since 1951, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2006 at Long Ridge of Stamford. Born March 7, 1908 in Brookline, MA, she was the daughter of the late Frank H. and Katharine (Osborne) Powers. She was 98. Mrs. Osterman was a parishioner of St. Thomas More R.C. Church in Darien and a member of Wee Burn County Club. Helen is survived by two nephews, Leland F. Powers of Jamaica Plain, MA and John Bunyan of Jersey City, NJ; and three nieces, Deborah A. Sexton of Webster, NY; Barbara Williams of Smyrna, GA and Christine Diskon of Oakland, CA. She was predeceased by her husband John A. Osterman in 1985. A scholarship in their names has been endowed at M.I.T. since 1987. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, 374 Middlesex Road, Darien on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Post 53 Ambulance Service, P. O. Box 2066, Darien, CT 06820.
