Obituary of James Charles Gartrell

James Charles Gartrell, of Seymour, CT and a former 35 year Darien, CT resident passed away on Friday, June 2, 2006 in Seymour. Born July 8, 1947 in Darien, he was the son of Dorothy R. Gartrell of Seymour and the late James Gartrell. He was 58.
James had attended Southbury Training School in Southbury, CT from 1961 through 1975. He also attended “STAR” in Norwalk, CT. He is an honorary member of Noroton Heights Fire Department in Darien. He attended “VARCA” George Hegyi industries for 25 years. He bowled with the Ripton School Parks and Recreation of Shelton and bowled in the Special Olympics for several years. He was a member of Valley Voices, a self-advocacy group of young people. He was a member of the Derby Senior Center.
Besides his mother, he is survived by a brother, Thomas S. Gartrell of Ridgefield, CT; a nephew Ian R. Gartrell and two nieces, Eliza R. and Isabella R. Gartrell. He is predeceased by his grandparents Lottie Peterson and Samuel Gartrell.
Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT on Monday, June 5, 2006 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
