Dear Zangrillo Family, my deepest condolances and sympathy to all of you. I just experienced the loss of my mother this past Staturday and in meeting with my siblings I learned of Mr. Z. as I knew him passing on. I grew up in Darien and my first real job was with Town Electric. Only a mere helper I did alot of work in the Sport Shop. I also had privelidge of re-wiring and socketing the star that went on top of the holiday X-mas tree out in the parking lot.My Grandfather and father always directed me there for any suits alterations or anything that reqiured great service. I remember Mr. Z. As being very hands on, down to earth, and kind. You all should be proud. I am proud to have met him. May he rest in Peace.

My sincerest sympathies to the Zangrillo family. Mr Zangrillo gave me a job at the Sport shop 50 years ago and I have such fond memories of working there, especially at Christmastime. He did so much for Darien and he will be missed by all.

Dear Mrs.Z, Gina and family, I was so sorry to hear about Mr.Z's passing. What an amazing man who's dedication to his family, store and town is to be commended. My sympathies go out to the Zangrillo family. Mr. Zangrillo gave me my first job and taught me what responsibility, customer service, community service and what it meant to give more than take when you are from Darien. Even as a part time worker he valued my contributions and always remembered my name years after I left Darien. I still have that touch as well and remember my customers by name. I also remember and valued how he also welcomed his Sport Shop family into his home for the holidays and that included even me. I will never forget his friendly welcome to all at the door of the Sport Shop and bringing Santa into our lives every year. He was one of a kind and his legacy lives on. Thank you Mr. Zangrillo for being such a positive influence on my life even to this day.

My parents Jean Fickett O'Neill and Jack O'Neill attended Darien schools with Steve and were loyal customers of the Sport Shop during all my childhood years through the 50's and 60's. I still remember those Sport Shop boxes under our Christmas tree...and all those Ship and Shore blouses. With Uncle Peter O'Neill visiting from abroad we made a special visit to Darien and met with Steve in summer, 2013. Gina was kind to make arrangements, and Steve was gracious and friendly, sharing memories of Darien and all the great kids who grew up there. We marveled at the beautiful store which Steve and family created.
