Obituary of Marjorie G. Stoddard
Please share a memory of Marjorie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marjorie G. Stoddard, beloved wife of Robert Stoddard, died peacefully Thursday, June 14, at Stamford Hospital after a brief illness. She was 70. Marj and Bob loved to travel and went from San Diego to Las Vegas to Nashville to Maine. She enjoyed baking and her apple pies were second-to-none. She was an avid reader who visited the library daily and who, by her example, taught her children and grandchildren the importance and joy of reading. She greeted everyone with a smile and always had a kind word. She loved her parakeets, country music, dancing the two-step, walking around Cove Island, Jazzercise, and hanging laundry on the clothesline on a pretty day. Born Aug. 3, 1941, Marjorie was a 1959 graduate of Stamford High School. She grew up in the Cove and had worked at various Stamford companies including William M. Mercer and ADP, and was most recently employed at Personalized Home Care of Stamford. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Beverly Cappiello Foster of Stamford and Janet Cappiello of Louisville, KY., a sister, Nancy Sarama of Tuscon, Ariz., and three granddaughters. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Muriel Sarama, and a sister, Judith Szarama. Cremation was chosen. A reception will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church Hall, 1864 Post Road, Darien on Sunday, July 15, 2012 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Contributions may be made to the Ferguson Library, One Public Library Plaza, Stamford, CT 06904. The Lawrence Funeral Home of Darien is handling Memorial Service arrangements.
