Obituary of John J. Boland

John J. Boland, a resident of Darien and former resident of Rowayton passed away on May 30, 2015. He was born on December 6, 1924 in Jersey City to the late John J. and Mary P. Boland. He was 90 years of age. John received a Bachelor's Degree from Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ. He had a career in Retail Management and Commercial Real Estate Development. He was also in the US Navy as a Signalman second class. He was a World War II veteran serving from June 1, 1943 to April, 14, 1946 on the USS Melucta in the Pacific Rim. He is survived by his four children, John J. Boland and wife Barbara of Norwalk CT, Susan B. Sullivan and husband William of Darien CT, Robert T. Boland and wife Susan of Overland Park, KS and Melissa B. Turner and husband Tony of Riverside CT. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Stuart, Clifford, Zachary, Olivia, Spencer John, Delaney, Brennan, Patrick, Kaleen, Reilly, Shannon, Caroline, Jack, and Kelly as well as two great grandchildren Ethan and Peyton. John was pre-deceased by his wife Jean Boland, daughter Debra B. Eccles and son Bruce W. Boland. Memorial calling hours will be held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820 on Thursday June 4, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Memorial Mass will be held at St John's RC Church on Friday June 5, 2015 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
