Obituary of Johanna Fortune

Johanna (Joan) Fortune, a resident of Darien for the past 56 years, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Rosenthal Hospice in Stamford. Born August 2, 1922 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Mary (Hostos) Douglass. She was 83.
Mrs. Fortune was a retired telephone operator for SNET, a parishioner of St. John R.C. Church in Darien and a former member of the Noroton Heights Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by a son, Doug Fortune and his wife Maureen of Norwalk and two grandchildren, Kerri A. Fortune and Matthew D. Fortune both of Stamford.
Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Monday, February 6, 2006 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rosenthal Hospice, c/o VNA Hospice Care, 1029 East Main Street, Stamford, CT 06902 or to Post 53 Ambulance Service, P. O. Box 2066, Darien, CT 06820.
