I am Phil’s cousin and was devastated to learn of his passing. Phil was one of the kindest souls I’ve known and an important part of my life from my earliest memories. As children I have many memories of us playing together at his family homes in Somers CT and Ashfield MA; swimming in local ponds, taking long hikes through snow covered pastures, playing countless games of hide and seek and sledding down country hills. Perhaps my fondest childhood and early adult memories are of the many joyous Thanksgiving our families celebrated together at the Libby family farm. Phil’s strong character and gentle soul are not surprising given the wonderful and nurturing family of which he was a part. His father Mert, mother Alice, brother Peter and sisters Pam and Polly all contributed to what made Phil so special. Phil leaves behind a wonderful wife and son. Gina is incredible, the strength she showed during Phil’s funeral service was astonishing and her eulogy mesmerizing and beautiful. They were clearly each others soul-mates and Gina’s comment during his eulogy that their love grew with each passing year and was never greater than at the time of Phi’s passing rings unquestionably true. Phil’s son, Philip Anthony, is like his dad in many ways and is a testament the strength of his father’s character and gentleness of his soul. He is such a talented young man that there is no doubt he will lead a most successful life that will make his dad proud. I know he and his mom will get through this together. They, like Phil, are very special people. My wife Roseanne and I offer our most heartfelt sympathies to Gina and Philip as well as to all of Phil’s family and friends. Gary & Roseanne Grindle

As one of Phil’s cousins, I share in the sorrow of Phil's passing. I have great memories of Phil and his family (Pam, Polly, Peter, and our Uncle Mert & Aunt Alice) as we shared many experiences and holidays with them in Somers CT and Ashfield MA. In particular I remember our Thanksgivings at their farm, the hikes to walk off our stuffed bellies, playing croquet, watching football, playing chess and other games, and of course chasing the cows and other animals. These were some of my most treasured family memories growing up. Phil personified family. He was a spiritual man as well as a loving and devoted husband & father. His peaceful and gentle nature, his smile, his laugh and sense of humor, were all representative of the person he was, and the life he shared with all of us. He inspired all of us to be happier, kinder, and to cherish our families more. Phil left us suddenly but we were fortunate to get one last glimpse of him through the eyes and words of Gina and Pam at his service. Gina showed strength, dignity, and poise as she offered an incredibly thoughtful and moving eulogy. Pam shared with us some of the special moments she and the brother she loved so much, shared together. As she spoke, we were reminded of some of the same moments we were fortunate enough to have shared with Phil. Phillip Jr. also showed us some of his dad’s heart, tenderness, and a maturity beyond his years and experience. His gentle strength, support, and devotion to his mother would have made his dad proud, and further showed us how much like his dad he has become. Phil may have left us behind for a time, but he left something of himself for all of those whose lives he’s touched. This was apparent from everyone who attended his service and offered their remembrances and condolences. Phil will be remembered with fondest memories by all of us. My wife Loria and I offer our most heartfelt sympathies to Gina and Philip as well as to Pam, Polly, Peter, as well as to all their family and friends. John(Greg) & Loria Grindle
