Ruth W. Burger, a resident of Darien since 1953, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Stamford Hospital. Born on May 10, 1920 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Winters and Grace Hogg Winters. She was 91. Ruth graduated from Stamford High School, class of 1937. She worked at Pitney Bowes for 19 years retiring in 1995. She was a member of Darien AARP and sang with Trooper Light Opera Co. in Darien for 26 years. She is survived by her two children, Raymond J. Burger, Jr. of Darien and Barbara Sauerhoff and her husband John of New Canaan. She is also survived by one grandson, Jes Sauerhoff of New Canaan, one sister-in-law, Margaret Winters of Stamford and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond J. Burger, Sr. in 1974 and a son, Todd A. Burger in 2006. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Friday, December 23, 2011 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society, I-91 Tech Center, 825 Brook Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
